FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is product placement?
Product placement is when a brand's product or logo appears in a film, TV show, streaming series, music video or other content as a natural part of a scene. The three main types are visual (the product and logo are clearly seen), verbal (a character names the brand) and signage (a branded sign or item appears in the background).
What is the difference between product placement and brand integration?
In product placement the product is visible but is not the focus of the scene. In brand integration the product is central to the storyline: it is written into the script, its features are called out and it gets far more screen time. Integrations usually involve a fee, a media commitment or significant production support, while many placements are secured with product alone.
How much does product placement cost?
There is no rate card. Cost depends on the platform (network, cable, streaming or theatrical), the size of the cast and director, whether it is a franchise or tentpole release, how prominent the placement is (background, hands-on or verbal) and how many brands in your category want the same spot. Some placements cost only product and support, while scripted integrations carry a fee. Hollywood Branded builds the budget around your goals before recommending any opportunity.
How do brands get their products into movies and TV shows?
Productions choose brands that fit the story and that the decision makers know and trust. Brands, or agencies like Hollywood Branded, track upcoming productions, review scripts for natural fits, pitch the brand to prop masters, set decorators and producers, negotiate terms, deliver product and confirm what made the final cut.
Does product placement increase sales?
It can, and the brands that see the biggest results activate the placement after the content airs. That means using approved assets in PR, social, retail and co-promotions so audiences connect the on-screen moment to a purchase. Our Expensify case study shows what a co-promoted placement can do.
How do you measure product placement ROI?
Start with the deliverables: screen time, visibility, verbal mentions and whether the product is hands-on. Then weigh audience size and fit, the marketing rights you secured, earned media and social conversation, and any lift in traffic or sales tied to the release window.
Is product placement worth it for smaller brands?
Yes, when the fit is right. The highest bidder does not always win. Productions often pick the brand that best serves the story or that a decision maker already uses, which gives smaller brands with a strong, relevant product a real path on screen.
